In the days following the Tohoku tragedy HOPE International Development Agency, Japan (HOPE-JP), urged by many of our supporters, began supporting the survivors in the stricken areas by delivering necessary supplies to neglected communities in need and to prepare for the economic recovery. Oak Lawn Marketing, Inc., a long standing Corporate Partner of HOPE, pledged 150 million yen towards our HOPE for Japan Fund. Since then, many other corporate sponsors and individuals have generously donated to this fund.

 

Although more than two months have passed since the March 11th tragedy, many families and communities count on our support for daily essentials. As time passes their needs will shift as they begin the long road to return to normalcy. HOPE-JP is engaged on a long-term commitment to help these communities return to self-reliance.

 

As with our overseas projects, HOPE-JP understands the value of long-term relationships with communities. We realize that clean water and survival essentials are only a first step towards individuals and families becoming self-reliant and taking charge of their future. We aspire to use the same philosophy and values that we use overseas to help the victims of the Tohoku tragedy to reclaim and shape their future. 

 

Our work overseas has continued unchanged with the continuation of many ongoing projects and the planning of new projects scheduled in the upcoming months for Cambodia, the Philippines and Ethiopia.

 

In order to support our overseas projects, particularly in the Philippines, I am pleased to announce the rescheduling of the Kansai Gala at The Ritz-Carlton, Osaka and our Celebrity Cocktail Party in Tokyo at Embassy of Canada / Ambassade du Canada.  There will also be an opportunity to give to our Rebuilding Projects in the Tohoku for those who desire to do so.

 

 

 

I am also pleased to announce that the HOPE at the Hilton Week will be held at Hilton Osaka during the days leading up to our Gala in Kansai (September 25th-30th), HOPE at the Hilton week in Nagoya will take place in November.  We greatly appreciate the support that The Ritz-Carlton, Osaka and Hilton Osaka have shown towards our efforts in Kansai.
